Poonam Mahal
Poonam Mahal, originally from Delhi, was married and settled in Mumbai when the 1984 violence took place. Although not directly affected, she recounts days and days of helplessness, vulnerability of her family and people, a sense of betrayal.
In her narrative, she talks about the murder of her younger brother, a bright student in Bidar, Karnataka, who became a victim of anti-Sikh violence in 1988. The pain of losing a loved one changed her life forever.
