In Malaysia at the time of the 1984 attacks, this Sikh remembers his first trip back to Punjab after 1984: traveling on road with family, car breaking down, pushing the car manually, and being surrounded by police machine guns. Fortunately, one of the policemen knew his cousin and they were allowed to proceed. The environment of fear and suspicion stays fresh in his memory decades later.
