Hardeep Singh emotionally recounts how his father and uncle were traveling in a bus attacked in February 1984 in Panipat and how an older Hindu lady helped save these two Sikhs by “hiding them under her shawl’s pallu.” While saluting true allies, he also explains why there is deep alienation post 1984, including in his family which has over 60 years of Indian Army service.
