Harjinder Kaur

They ripped off her jewelry, spat obscenities at her, and tied her to a window in her Sagarpur, Delhi home. Unable to escape, Harjinder Kaur could only watch as they murdered her father, her son, her husband, her brother, and her nephew. Her three youngest sons hid in the bushes for three days.
The mob picked up the television set in their house and hit her husband and son over the head with it. As they lay unconscious on the floor, they set the box on top of them and set it on fire.
From a widow’s colony, she remembers how the mob dragged her husband’s dead body through the streets, taunting “Sardarji, let’s take you for a walk.”
